What languages or technologies should I learn next?

I currently know: Java SE, Swing Servlets, JSP SQL Javascript (learning) html, CSS, xml What else would complement my current skills?

Why not PHP, MySQL and AJAX? They're pretty tight when it comes to dynamic display systems. Javascript calls the PHP file via AJAX to access MySQL data, and stores the information in a DIV element. You'd probably have some fun with it. Also try taking a step away from Web development, and have a glance at Basic and Pascal for a start. You've worked with enough Java and Javascript to know C (which will transfer over to PHP). There are compilers available for Windows and Linux, and most likely MacOS. No scripting or bytecode - just raw convert-to-assembly. Also check out Forth. You may suddenly find Forth owning you if you're not careful. http://www.forth.org/compilers.html
