New york high school requirements. Urgent Please Help.?
I took biology, earth science, and chemistry. I passed the biology and earth science class and the exam. I failed the chemistry class and exam but passed the class in summer school but failed the class again. My summer school teacher told me by passing the class I am done with science. But my guidance counselor told me I have to pass that exam or take living environment which is non regents next year. So my question is am I done with science or do I have to take that exam which I won’t pass or living environment. If so I’m not taking that class next year so I guess I won’t be graduating. I’m so pissed that they may have lied to me.
As long as you pass the necessary regents exams then you can get your regents diploma.
Taking the “living environment” class (sounds like cake) should net you the sufficient credits needed to get your high school’s diploma.
Thats what its all about really, getting enough credits to satisfy the diploma requirements. Just make sure you have that, the regent diploma is a junky little certification that attaches to your diploma, it means NOTHING once you graduate high school.
- Colleges dont care as NY state is the only one who has it.
- Companies definitely dont care, so long as your a graduate.
So worry more about getting enough credits and let the regents fall where they may. But if i understand you correctly you passed the regents exam anyway, so thats not even an issue.
Sorry if your counselor lied to you. They’re so darn worthless. But whatever you do make sure your picking classes that allow you to graduate on time.
